Bill R. Foster And Family Recreation Center (West Elevation):
When looking for unique buildings/ areas that have great integration into a site, the Missouri State Rec Center has it all. The North side of the building is elevated on the land and looks out upon the dorms, a large parking lot and JQH Arena. On the South and West side there is a pool area that is sunk into the ground, with alot of large windows showing the pool and keeping with the openess throughout the building. The begining to the entrance start at the corner of an intersection and has a comfortable slope up into and area where you are surrounded by the building, and the threshold puts you in the middle of the Rec Center.
Jordan Valley Park (South Elevation):
After going to the site for the Second time, and drawing it on my second visit, I was suprised by how tall the Robotic Man is. It's presence in the Park is known from everywhere in the park. The only thing that overshadows the Robot is Hammons tower and some of the tree;s in the background. The Man made hill just barely gets to the height of the torso. The background, which has some of our site has some defined hills but all that start with a shallow slope and then increase overtime. The paths in the park, as expected, flow with such ease and allow for a view of the rest of the park .
Curry Sports Complex - Harrison Field (North Elevation):
I was trying to decide on the best elevation for the Stadium I really wanted to show how the stadium incorporates the hill as a place to sit and watch but also acts as a sound barrier. I decided to show where the track and turf to give context to where I decided on the elevation. The stadium uses the landscape to direct peoples attention towards the field once they enter through the gates, and also makes a constraint on where the stadium actually is. I would say in relation to the landscape the turf field and track are sunk into the land, which helps bring people's attention to the action on the field/track.
