CLASSROOM-BASED PRESENTATIONS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Please note that the room to be used needs to be fitted with curtains or blinds to reduce the level of daylight, otherwise the projected images may be rather washed-out or in the worst case practically invisible!
Also, if in a classroom, can the same room be used for all presentations by swapping the children over? - this would be far preferable for me as I wouldn't have to move between and set up in three different classrooms but if that can't be done I'll work around it!
DOME-BASED PRESENTATIONS - FOR WHEN THE WORLD RETURNS TO NORMAL
If you are interested in making a booking, please first check that your Hall is of sufficient size to accommodate the dome which is 5.6m in diameter and requires 3.4m headroom at the apex: the headroom must be clear of any downstands such as light fittings, digital projection equipment etc.
A clean floor and one standard 13A electrical socket outlet are also required.
Most schools cancel Assembly on the day of the visit such that the planetarium is set up and ready for the first session to begin immediately after registration.
GENERAL VISIT PROGRAMME QUERIES
Break time is usually adjusted for the affected class: please advise if this cannot be done at your school.
On receipt of an enquiry, I will need to know the answers to the following questions:
· Which Year Groups are to be involved and how many sessions are required?
· Do you require “Earth & Space”, “Light (& Shadows)” or “Light & Dark” presentations?
· Time when entry is available to school buildings?
· Time when the first session could begin?
· If applicable, time when Hall must be cleared and ready for Dinner Ladies to set up dining tables?
- Is a space available which would not require equipment to be cleared over lunch-time?
· If applicable, time when Hall will be clear of tables and ready for the dome to be set up again?
· Time when afternoon lessons resume?
· Time when school day ends?
After receipt of the above information, I will suggest a possible time-table for the visit: once this is agreed, your booking will be formally confirmed by letter.
