We recommend that Northeastern University set a goal to increase the percentage of underrepresented communities within the Faculty, Staff, and Senior Leadership to be consistent with the student body demographics as part of Northeastern’s 2025 Academic Plan.
Colleges at the University should implement representative student committees to assist in the hiring decisions of these new faculty.
The University should also set a goal to maintain a diverse faculty and staff by prioritizing tenure consideration for academics from underrepresented demographics
We propose that the University create and maintain a mandatory yearly cultural competency training program for all university faculty, staff, and administrators based on the five cultural competence literacies defined in the 2019-2020 Northeastern Student of Color Caucus Impact Report.
Recognizing the importance of unions in protecting Black and other marginalized workers, it is imperative that Northeastern University allow the Full Time Non-Tenure Track Faculty and Graduate Workers of Northeastern University to hold union votes, uninterrupted by anti-union rhetoric from University officials.
