I approached Cole Rogers of Twin6 Machine Shop to provide a better tool for installing and removing the Gen 3 LAW Tactical Folding stock adapter. I asked for a 3/8 socket so that I could move away from the flimsy, one time use, flange tool they come supplied with.
This was requested for a few reasons.
This is the flange tool that is provided in the LAW Tactical stock adapter kit. instruction say to tighten until the adapter is tight against the receiver and the tool begins to flex.
This is the original digital mock up Cole did of the socket
Roger Wang of Forward Controls Design is always pushing to bring subtle, yet well thought out products to the AR market. They are a nice departure from the normal derp oriented "solution in search of a problem" offerings.
The JCW features 2 ends. 1 end has 3 contact points, while the other only has 2. This is especially useful for end plates that do not allow for 3 points of contact. Namely, the FCD ESF and alike that cover approximately 1/4 of the castle nut. These tools are made of 4140 and black oxide coated with a center provision for a 1/2" drive torque wrench. The tool is nice and small, which allows you to stow it away nicely in the drawer of a small armorers box. The fitment has a very precise engagement of the castle nut and does not wiggle around like many other armorers tool offerings. Definitely takes the worry away of tool slip during installation.
