Our Purpose
Black Mount Community Development Trust supports community development across the area by:
surveying our community to establish local priorities
supporting local groups to deliver projects that meet those priorities
building local capacity for community development
partnering with organisations who share our aims
We became a registered charity in May 2025 as Black Mount Community Development Trust SCIO, Charity No. SC054219, and are working towards full DTAS membership. Read our Constitution of Black Mount Community Development Trust SCIO HERE.
With thanks to Ann Sangster of VASLAN for her support and guidance through this process.
Our Trustees
Mark Archibald, Dr Emma Ives, Dr Sarah McGlasson, Nick Tucker - all bound by our Trustee Code of Conduct.
Black Mount is one of 33 Community Council areas in South Lanarkshire, covering Dunsyre, Dolphinton, Elsrickle, Newbigging, Walston, Weston, Candy Mill, Libberton and the surrounding area.
A development trust is a community-owned, community-led organisation that combines local action with an enterprising approach to tackling local needs. They're independent, not-for-profit, and work in partnership with the voluntary, private and public sectors towards the long-term regeneration of an area.
Development trusts and Community Councils have different but complementary roles: trusts deliver projects and actions, while Community Councils represent the community.
