ABOUT BBTN

Baton twirling, particularly at the competitive level, has long struggled with a lack of diversity and an underrepresentation of communities of color. Recognizing the need for change, the Black Baton Twirlers Network (BBTN) was founded to address these challenges by supporting programs and targeted initiatives aimed at increasing the recruitment and retention of twirlers of color.

Established in 2021 as a 501(c) nonprofit, BBTN is pioneering a positive movement toward diversity and inclusion within the sport of baton twirling. Our mission is to foster a community where twirlers of color feel a true sense of belonging, have opportunities to lead, and are empowered to showcase their talents. Through our work, we strive to redefine what it means to be inclusive in this sport.

BBTN was conceived by Olivia Lynch, who recognized the need for a supportive network that celebrates diversity and creates meaningful pathways for twirlers of color. Her vision for BBTN is rooted in the belief that everyone should feel seen, supported, and encouraged to elevate their passion for twirling.
