Model Warship COMBAT

BrianK's MODEL WARSHIP COMBAT Page

What is this strange hobby? Fighting model warships?!!

International Radio-Controlled Warship Combat Inc (IRCWCC) is a national club of people who build 1:144 scale radio-controlled (R/C) models of WW I and WW II warships.  We outfit them with pumps, install home-made BB cannons in the turrets, and sail them out in fleets to do battle,  Allied vs. Axis!

The fleets maneuver around each other, firing BB's and poking holes in the other fleet's ships, AND...

OH YES! THEY DO SINK!

(that's the cool part)

But that is not the end of the ship! The ponds we battle in are shallow enough to wade out and retrieve the ships. We water-proof the electronics and can patch the holes with small pieces of airplane silk-span. Even sunken ships can be made ready to battle again in only 30 minutes.

This is my current ship:   HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH

37,000 TONS OF DIPLOMACY!!!

You can see the damage she took in battle along the sides of her hull. Each ship has a pump onboard the pumps the water out, but too many more holes than this and the pump can be overwhelmed and down it goes (I think the QE survived this battle, although next sortie I was a lot more defensive trying to avoid further damage)
