Plan for Teaching Program:
- Students review knowledge and understanding of scatter plots, representation of data in media, concept of sampling and the foundations of inductive reasoning used to draw conclusions from data sets.
- Students are introduced to identifying, analysing and describing associations between pairs of variables (bivariate data) in the context of sampling techniques and trends in popular media. Students develop their critical thinking and reasoning skills in analysing and assessing the representation of data in media.
- Students explore the representation of data in a variety of contexts and forms including:
- Probabilities
- Demographics
- Surveys, polls, reports
Key Goal: Develop students' inductive reasoning and critical thinking skills through the interpretation and assessment of data representation in bivariate data-sets.
