Have you ever dreamed of off road racing ? If you dream of off road racing but don't know how or where to start. If you are the one person in your club or group of friends who is always a little faster or goes a little further... then bison racing is for you!
Bison racing offers a privately owned, centrally located (in the pacific north west) track where you can enjoy desert racing without all the high fees. Whether you would like a private day on the track, an exciting race, or a club event - we have you covered! Our track is brand new. Currently it is 8.4 miles of pure fun. The track here at the Bison Raceway is an exhilarating thrill ride designed to test the skills of the novelist all the way to the pro. The track is 8.4 miles long and consists of natural desert terrain and a lot of challenging man-made jumps, bumps, whoops etc
Races at the Bison race track are a fun family event!

Races will be 12 laps for a 100 mile race!

Sportsman UTV class definition:
The Sportsman class is a beginner entry level class. The vehicles must be built to Production class rules. The Buffalo Chip Challenge inspector will have the final say on all sportsman entires. Bison racing reserves the right to split or combine classes to accommodate similar classes of vehicles.
The Pro Production N/A UTV class vehicles are built using production UTVs manufactured by registered companies that issue VIN numbers. Companies must produce a minimum of 1,000 units per year to be accepted. UTVs must have two seats* (1 seat for RS1) and normally aspirated OEM engines must be used with a maximum engine size of 1,000cc*. Must use a hood, grill, front and rear fenders from the UTV. All suspension mounting points must be in the OEM location. Shocks must mount in the OEM locations. All suspension components must be the same dimensions as delivered by the OEM manufacture. All engines must remain stock as delivered from the OEM from the intake edge of the throttle bodies to the edge of the exhaust flange. Must use OEM engine electronics. Must use OEM transmission and differentials.
The following are allowed: exhaust header & muffler, air box and filters, clutching and transmission gears, OEM computer reflashing. After market suspension components allowed as long as the OEM pivot locations and geometry are retained. Shocks, springs and valving are open. Components that add reliability may be allowed (manual tensioners, head studs, relocated cooling etc). Chassis and suspension reinforcement allowed

All engines and turbos must remain stock as delivered from the OEM from the intake edge of the turbo to the edge of the exhaust flange. Must use OEM engine electronics. Must use OEM transmission and differentials.

After market suspension components allowed as long that the OEM pivot locations and geometry are retained. Shocks, springs and valving are open. Components that add reliability may be allowed (manual tensioners, head studs, relocated / split cooling etc). Chassis and suspension reinforcement allowed.
UTV class vehicles are built using production UTVs manufactured by registered companies that issue VIN numbers. Companies must produce a minimum of 1,000 units per year to be accepted. UTVs must have two seats and forced induction OEM engines must be used with a maximum engine size of 1,000cc. Must use a hood, grill, front and rear fenders from the UTV. All suspension mounting points must be in the OEM location. All engines must utilize the stock engine cases. Must use OEM transmission and differentials.
The following are allowed: engine modifications, aftermarket engine electronics, aftermarket forced induction components, aftermarket clutching, aftermarket and long travel suspension. Chassis and suspension reinforcement allowed.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL CLASSES
Helmets: Helmets must be of the type approved by the Snell Memorial Foundation with a Snell or DOT sticker attached.
- Fire Suit: One-piece fire suits are mandatory. Fire suits must meet the requirements of SFI 3.2A/1 or better along with gloves and racing shoes or boots. No motorcycle riding gear allowed.
Fire Extinguisher: Portable 2.5-pound fire extinguisher readily accessible to the driver. ABC type or equivalent fire extinguisher. A second 2.5 pound fire extinguisher must be mounted at the rear of the vehicle.
- Safety Harness: All classes require a 5 point harness.
- Safety Nets: Approved safety nets are mandatory on all vehicles.
- ADA - Bison racing welcomes all ADA drivers. As this is a remote desert event each ADA driver must have a non ADA co-driver. ADA co-drivers are welcome in all classes.
- HANS type devices are recommended. A minimum of neck roll is required.
- Roll Cage: A well designed and built after market roll cage made for racing is required for all Pro classes. Cage must attach in a minimum of 6 points. Sportsman - Factory cages are not recommended. Factory cages will be allowed if modified or reinforced and tied into the frame at at least 6 points. Gusseting of the factory cage is highly encouraged.
- Roofs - all Pro vehicles must have an approved metal roof. Sportsman may run an approved stock roof.
- Doors: Lockable side protection doors must be mounted in a way to not be able to pop open during racing. Factory doors with a secondary locking mechanism are approved.
- Ignition: Ignition switch and all electric fuel pumps must be labeled and easily accessible from inside and outside the vehicle.
- NO nitrous or other pressurization / injection type system allowed.
- Fuel system - Stock fuel system OK, No aftermarket auxiliary fuel tanks allowed, Aftermarket Fuel cells with bladders allowed .
- Battery - all batteries must be securely mounted and the positive terminal taped.
- Mirrors - all vehicles are required to have at least 1 rear view mirror.
- Skid Plates - any skid plate is allowed and highly reccomended. All skid plates but be securely attached.
- Tires - any tire allowed up to 35” in diameter. Single tire per corner.
- Horns - all vehicles required to have an audible signaling device. A very loud portable air horn may be allowed.
- Rear Warning Lights - a flashing green or blue light and a steady amber are required on all vehicles. No exceptions. If a light fails you will not be allowed to continue racing. Additional detail will be announced.
- Number Plates: Vehicles must display correct vehicle number in the correct size and color.
- First Aid: Weatherproof first aid kit must be carried in the vehicle.
- Breakdown Safety Devices: One battery-operated red flashing beacon or one red reflective breakdown triangle device.
- Radios - all vehicles must have a VHF radio. Bison racing will be utilizing Wxman - 151.625 as the emergency channel. You must advise bison racing of your frequency and a cell number. Your frequency must be written on the LH side of the roof.
- Survival Supplies: All vehicles must carry at least one day of survival supplies and one-quart of water per occupant or rider.
- Pitting - all vehicles may only pit in the approved pit location. All fueling must be done on a fueling mat, vehicle must be grounded, not running and a person manning an approved fire extinguisher. No shorts allowed in the pits.
Changes / updates / revision - The Bison racing inspector will have the final say on all entries. Bison racing reserves the right to split or combine classes to accommodate similar classes of vehicles. Bison racing reserves the right to revise and update all rules.
Pro Unlimited UTV class definition:
The Pro Unlimited UTV class vehicles are built using a factory UTV frame or a full tube custom frame. A motorcycle, snowmobile, or UTV engine must be used with a maximum engine size 2,000cc and no car engines are allowed. Turbochargers and superchargers are allowed. The vehicle must use a hood and front fenders from a UTV and have two seats. Max wheelbase is 140 inches, which can be achieved by cutting the factory frame or building a custom tube frame. Any type of suspension is allowed. This is an open UTV class, with the exception of wheelbase 140-inch, 80-inch width, and a 35-inch tire. Any UTV is legal to race in the Unlimited class. This included RS1’s, engine swaps, custom suspensions, etc.
Experimental / Electric / Hybrid class definition: this is an experimental class open to all electric / hybrid powered SxS based vehicles. Drivetrain and suspension are open. All safety rules apply
