Rising tuition rates and student debt are barriers that too many students and their families face while pursuing higher education. As a candidate for the Linn Benton Community College Board of Education, I aim to make education more affordable and accessible to everyone in our community.
I am committed to advocating for increased funding for Linn-Benton Community College, expanding financial aid options, and working to reduce tuition costs for both current and future students.
By focusing on this priority, it can ensure that every student who wants to attend LBCC has the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without financial stress holding them back.
Linn-Benton Community College currently offers essential resources that support our students’ success, including academic advising, tutoring, mental health services, and career counseling. As a candidate, my goal is to build on these services and expand their impact to ensure that every student can fully benefit from the support available to them.
I plan to work to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of these resources by improving outreach efforts, increasing awareness, and ensuring that students know how to access the support they need at every stage of their educational journey. By strengthening these services, we can ensure that every student at Linn-Benton has the opportunity to succeed, both academically and personally.
A positive, inclusive campus culture is essential to the success of every student at Linn-Benton Community College. I am committed to fostering an environment where all students feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
I will advocate for initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus, ensuring that every student, regardless of background, feels a sense of belonging. By supporting student organizations, cultural events, and peer mentoring programs this will create a more connected, vibrant campus where students thrive both academically and socially.
Linn-Benton Community College is not just an educational institution—it’s a vital part of the broader community. With every opportunity, I want to foster stronger connections between the college and the communities of Linn and Benton counties.
I plan to work to expand partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and government entities to create more opportunities for students, from internships to job placement and collaborative community projects. By building these relationships, it ensures that Linn-Benton students gain real-world experience and contribute to the growth and development of our region.
No student should have to choose between their education to further their career and having enough to eat. I struggled with this issue myself as a student, and I am very committed to ensuring that food security is not a barrier to student success at Linn-Benton Community College.
I will advocate for expanding and improving access to food resources, including the current resources, partnerships with local organizations, and other possible options. By increasing awareness and accessibility, students will have reliable access to nutritious food, allowing them to focus on their studies without the stress of food insecurity.
