The Performers Who've Appeared at Birmingham EMOM to date:
Valentich is the electronic music project of Worcestershire based producer Danni Morris. Originating in Leeds before relocating and flourishing in Manchester, Valentich combines a mix of post-rock ambient soundscapes and melodic techno, producing rich, multi layered music, referencing the likes of Tycho, Jon Hopkins, 65dos and Boards of Canada, amongst many other influences.
Alongside playing various EMOM's in the Midlands and North West, Valentich has gigged regularly over the past 7 years, with highlights including Worcester Music Festival, Sparkle, Cable Festival and most recently opening for Attrition / Bestial Mouths in Coventry.

Audiovisual performance exploring the aesthetics of glitch and the intersections between club music and experimental soundscapes.
Steckdose brings a healthy gasp of Teesside air to the Midlands crucible via modular synths, off kilter loops, and repurposed sounds, hammered into bespoke audioscapes.
Sons of Geometry are a modular synthesis duo known for performing semi-sequenced / semi-improvised sets of up-tempo, beat-embracing, sonic weirdness.
I like to take inspiration from different types of music, blending rhythms and melody in an eerie and ambient but also upbeat way. I predominantly use a launchpad and midi keys to blend the repetitive beats afforded by samples and the keys to improvise where I can. I have been very interested lately in Turkish and Anatolian Rock music, so you will hear flavours of that on EMOM night.
One third of ‘noise meddlers’ Cries from the LTN, Midlands based Noostalgia is heading back to his house and techno routes for this solo outing. An entirely and unapologetically iPad based set using AUM to control mainly FM based sounds. Should be fun.
Live Ableton Live; style depends on whatever piece I choose to play on the day.
Ambient, glitchy, experimental electronic music generated by algorithms and musician-computer interaction. formuls is James Dooley, an audiovisual artist from Birmingham, UK.
Pressing buttons on my digitakt, resulting in some sort of electronic music with a techno essence coming out of the speakers.
Hedge Priest plays folk music at 30bpm and 180bpm - nothing in between. This will be a slow one, the first outing for some new wound-down droning acid folk. Centrala regulars may be familiar with him as part of the Acid Morris Soundsystem and as the promoter of Grand Union Folk Club.
AEW is an electronica project instigated by producer and musician JBee. It uses cast-away sounds, recycled synths and drum machines to create a balance between pop structures and experimentation.
The sounds and textures are crafted from vintage sources creating vibrant and evocative music that explores themes of politics, childhood, the natural world, and pop history. More than just revivalist AEW weave melodies, speech and atmospherics to capture moments and moods that summon a deep sense of nostalgia and the joys of things that go WOBBLE and BLEEP.

House is soul, the mystifying music they call the key. We're known for our live house music production sets at Compassion events and we've built a strong reputation for energising intimate spaces with creativity, emotional depth and proper good times. Whilst staying true to our roots that shaped the ‘80s and ‘90s underground our music pulses with the warmth, punch and grit of Chicago house, Balearic beat and Acid house blending modern production techniques and sound design.

"I am a Birmingham-based musician and visual artist. I work primarily with the live coding software TidalCycles and node-based visual programming language Pure Data to create algorithmic music that is both rhythmic and glitchy.
"This is complemented with abstract visuals made using hardware video synthesisers.
"Since 2019 I have performed across the UK and Europe at venues and festivals including Green Man, Barbican, No Bounds Festival, Tate Modern, Supernormal, Corsica Studios, Cafe Oto, and IKLECTIK."

"In a world full of noise and judgement, it's easy to misheard and misunderstood. Birmingham-based and London-born Didactic MK finds home in music, a portal where self-expression is effortless and clarity becomes clear."

One part of the band, Cries From the LTN, Buddahat is the solo project of Marcus O'Kane. He is influenced by the industrial electronic WaxTrax sounds of his youth, "bringing some EBM beats and distorted synth sounds to make you feel like it's 1991 all over again!"
"From first hearing Pump Up The Volume by M/A/R/R/S in 1987, and then cobbling music together on an Amstrad Studio 100 with stop/start tape breaks, I’ve always made music."

"I’ve been a musician (well, a drummer) for 30-ish years. A500plus started as a way of keeping sane during lockdown by making ambient/lofi/noise. For the last few years, I’ve been mainly focused on making drum n' bass as half of Red Sky but I’ve been feeling the itch to do something less beat-oriented and to perform live.
"I’ll be using a mixture of modular and analogue gear, with a few effects pedals thrown in for good measure. Expect a loose set of echoing drones, fuzz, and fractured samples and melodies."
I’ve been making music under the name Mute Branches for almost 15 years and, across that time, it has evolved from a straight-through-the-line ambient electronic project into something a little broader and more nebulous genre-wise. The focus is almost always on trying to evoke the imaginal or subjective spaces that we lay over the top of normal reality. It has primarily been a recording and production-based project but I’ve enjoyed how the handful of live shows I’ve played have really transformed how I think about hearing and making music.

"We are a pair of students in our last year at the RBC. Our set consists of ambient harmonica, synthesisers and double Bass, the big violin! We use a combination of effects, including delay and a generous amount of reverb. To create a sonic adventure that aims to wash all around you. The music you will hear is composed by both of us in a collaborative way, with each of us contributing to the creation of each of the tracks heard. The general vibe is relaxed and atmospheric."

Intangible Heritage is John Biddulph, Jack Nelson, and Lewis Burn. Each performers in their own rite, as IH they use improvisation as a way to explore the living traditions, skills, knowledge, and cultural expressions passed down through generations. As such Intangible Heritage does not exist as a physical object, but a shared cultural practice, accessed in the moment.
Taking reference from advances in construction and post industrial landscapes of the English Midlands, CENTRAL ELECTRIC serves as creative generator and critical transmitter, delivering sound that combines field samples with MAX MSP with precision and strength.

Low-level Disruption is the new project from 16 year old Millie Millburn, who writes all the tunes, and her dad Darren, who is older than her. L-LD is a tribute to the sort of music that Millie has been relentlessly forced to listen to by her dad on car journeys for the last 15 years.

Squires' music creates a world where Actress meets Kranky, with a side dose of Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works for good measure. These are far-reaching electronic and ambient sounds that provide immersive soundscapes for listeners to lose themselves in amidst thought-provoking textures, samples and field recordings.
