FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) is a global nonprofit organization that aims to prepare the next generation through robotics programs. It was founded by inventor Dean Kamen in 1989. Since it started, there have been 3.2 million competitors in 110 countries. After only one year of participation, students are 2-3x more likely to have a stronger understanding of STEM, according to a study conducted by Brandeis University Center for Youth and Communities. Not only do students gain coding and engineering knowledge, but they also come away with valuable life experiences.
