One of our main interests is the transformation of the spirostan side chain of sapogenins as diosgenin, hecogenin, and sarsapogenin, among others. The development of these skeletons has contributed with novel methodologies in organic synthesis as well as potential candidates for drug discovery.
We are very interested in the development of alternative reactions and procedures in Organic Chemistry, employing modern techniques as microwave synthesis. Those methodologies have contributed with new molecules and materials derived from natural resources.
We like challenges, so, we enjoy the elucidation of complex molecules from marine and terrestrial resources. For this purpose, we mainly employ 1D and 2D NMR and infrared spectroscopy.
