Durian (Durio zibethinus) is a popular tropical fruit in Southeast Asian found mostly in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)

Durian (Durio zibethinus) is often referred to the king of tropical fruits (Aziz et al., 2019)
Durian fruits are mostly in Southeast Asian specifically in tropical rainforests. (Dass, 2020)
They belong to the Bombacaceae family which makes it a flowering fruit plant. It takes a durian tree five to six years to fully grow and produces fruits twice a year. (Dass, 2020)
Durian trees can grow up to 120 ft. (Dass, 2020)
It is a eukaryotic cell and a main source producer for many animals and humans. as well as reproducing asexually. (Aziz et al., 2019)
They are mostly eaten by tigers and elephants due to their high vitamin and mineral amount. as well as being a good source of vitamin B, C, and E. (Dass, 2020)
The durian pulp is the most common part of the fruit that is consumed due to its high content of vitamins and minerals due to the flour located within the pulp. While discarding the rest of the fruit. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
But the seeds and the inner shells of the durian also contain nutritional health benefits for the consumer. As well as flour being produced by the pulp, seed and inner shell of the durian fruit. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
Kingdom: Plantae
Phylum: Tracheophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Malvales
Family: Bombacaceae
Genus: Durio
Species: Durio zibethinus
Narin Charoenphun and Wiyada Kwanhian Klangbud conducted an experiment on two different durian (Durio zibethinus) fruits. They specifically focused on the flour that the durian created to be able to find out which one created more flour and contained more nutritional value. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
The two different durian were the Chanee and Monthang durian that both grow in Thailand. The Chanee pulp (CPu), Chanee seed (CS), Chanee peel (CP), Monthang pulp (MPu), montthang seed (MS), and Monthang peel (MP) were the parts that were tested. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
For both they used the pulp, seed, and inner shell to see where the flour is mostly created. and placed them in five different substances which were in ABTS radical scavenging activity (A), nitric oxide scavenging activity (B), superoxide scavenging activity (C), hydroxyl radical scavenging activity (D) and metal ion chelating activity (E). (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
In Figure 4, before anything was conducted Chanee pulp (CPu) had the highest flour extract and the Monthang Pulp (MPu) had the lowest flour extract. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
In Figure 5, it shows all five experiments and how the durians reacted within each substances. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
At the end of the experiment they found out that the Chanee durian contained more flour within its pulp and had more benefits than the Monthang durian pulp. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
The chanee durian also seemed to have more antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity within the flour. (Charoenphun & Klangbud, 2022)
The data was helpful to know when trying to figure out which of the two durians will give you more benefits
This information is also helpful and shows that even though durian (Durio zibethinus) come from the same taxonomy families, they all grow different and differ from one another and some durian types have more beneficial factors than other durian types.
