The unit of Biocatalysis and Ionic Liquids is integrated in GIM (Grupo de Investigação Multidisciplinar), a research group of LAQV - REQUIMTE located at Laboratory of Applied Chemistry, Department of Chemical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, Portugal.
The Biocatalysis and ionic liquids unit has been focused mainly on studying and applying biocatalysis in aqueous and non-conventional media (ionic liquids, lipid aggregates), and on evaluating ionic liquids on distinct perspectives from toxicity to pharmaceutical applications or nanoparticle synthesis. The developed work involves, in most cases, the automatization of the bioassays resorting to flow techniques.
