A. Before the Test
Familiarize yourself with the mock test shared before facilitating the test so you can administer it more effectively.
NO ORIENTATION WILL BE DONE ON THE DAY OF THE TESTING.
Sign in for the testing activity via the Volunteer’s Attendance Sheet.
Check if the Examiner's Kit (Pre/Post-test Form, ballpen, and pencil) given by the BINHI Coordinator is complete and ready for you to use.
Ensure the BINHI Coordinator has oriented you about the assigned testing and waiting areas and introduced you to the designated BINHI teacher.
Manage your expectations. Not everyone is capable enough to answer all the questions perfectly.
Speak slowly, calmly and clearly.
Engage with the student by introducing yourself, then state what they are going to do.
Ask for the student’s name. If the pronunciation is unclear, refer to the attendance sheet available in the assigned area.
When it comes to taking pictures before, during and after the tests, kindly ask for permission first and make sure that it doesn't disrupt the test.
BINHI has already secured informed consent from the parents for the use of their photos and videos in published materials but it's best to ask the students especially if taking closeup shots.
B. During the Test
Read the instructions first before each test category.
Go through all of the items in the Pre/Post-test Form, show specific sections of the Form, when indicated.
*Please make sure to read the Notes below each section for specific instructions.
Give them praises or compliments such as “very good!”, “great job!”, or “excellent job!”
C. After the Test
Once done, thank them for their time and give them a high five if they’re comfortable with it.
Escort the student to the assigned area and award them a star. Then, check their name on the attendance sheet.
Double-check all answers before submitting. Ensure that you have followed the Scoring Instructions carefully.
Calculate and write the total scores for each test category.
Please fill in the Tester's Evaluation section of the test based on your observations.
Put Accomplished Scoring Forms and Blank/Unused Scoring Forms in designated envelopes.
Approach the BINHI Teacher to request the next BINHI Scholar to be tested.
Answer Volunteer Feedback Form.
Actual Test Photos
This setup reflects a typical classroom during testing. Depending on the room's size, it can get crowded, so please keep the volume low to avoid disturbing others. Also, since not all schools can provide air-conditioned venues, a fan and water can be very handy!
Tests are conducted on a one-to-one basis. During pre-tests, we typically have around 50 students per class, while mid-tests and post-tests involve 25 students. That's why time management is crucial to ensure everything runs smoothly.
When you arrive, we'll assign you a registration area, typically at the front of the classroom. This is where you'll register and keep track of the students you've tested. Please remember to return each Pre/Post-test Form immediately after every test for validation.
You can absolutely take pictures! We've already secured consent forms from the parents. However, please also ask for permission from the students themselves and make sure they're comfortable before snapping any photos.
