Baseball and softball have long been traditions that unite communities across the Southern Tier of New York, and the Binghamton Umpires Association is proud to support that tradition. Our members bring professionalism, rule expertise, and a commitment to fairness to every contest we officiate — from youth leagues to adult competition.
We believe in showing up prepared, calling a quality game, and fostering an atmosphere where players can compete and fans can enjoy the sport. This website serves as a resource for players, coaches, parents, and fans seeking to better understand the game, prepare for the season, or learn more about how baseball and softball are officiated.

Since 2000, the Binghamton Umpires' Association has presented scholarships to graduating baseball and softball players, totaling more than $35,500. This year the BUA will again be awarding two scholarships, one baseball, and one softball for $500 each. These will be awarded to the chosen seniors from the 21 schools that the BUA services.
Since 2024 the baseball scholarship has been dedicated to the memory of Toby Walker, and the softball scholarship has been dedicated to long time umpire Dick James.
