Baseball and softball are at the heart of the Southern Tier, and the Binghamton Umpires Association is looking for individuals who want to step out of the stands and onto the field. Whether you’ve played, coached, officiated before, or simply love the game, becoming an umpire is a rewarding way to stay involved, support local athletes, and earn competitive pay.

Our officials take pride in professionalism, preparation, and fairness. We provide the training, mentorship, and rule knowledge you need to confidently work games at every level — no prior experience required. From youth leagues to adult competition, you’ll have opportunities to grow your skills, build confidence, and make a positive impact on every contest you officiate.

If you’re interested in joining, you can reach out in several ways:

Beginning in January, and continuing for 10 consecutive weeks (weather permitting), Rules Interpretation Meetings are held every Monday at 6:30 PM. These sessions rotate among the following locations:

(Final dates and locations will be posted by the end of 2026 once the schedule is finalized.)

During the off‑season, hands‑on clinics are held at the 434 Sports Complex in Vestal and at various locations throughout the region. These sessions help new and returning umpires sharpen mechanics, improve positioning, and build confidence before stepping onto the field.

If you’re ready to join a supportive community, learn the craft, and help uphold the integrity of baseball and softball across the Southern Tier, we look forward to having you join us.
