In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.
In the US, everyone has the right to a trial by jury in all cases that involve over $712.61 (equivalent to $20 in 1789). The jury is selected of people impartial to that subject. This is where we get the idea of jury duty, as juries are made up of regular citizens. Also in the Amendment is the fact that once a jury has made its decision, it cannot be re-examined by a court.
