The Constitution's Perfect Sidekick:

"If in the opinion of the People, the distribution or modification of the Constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates."
- George Washington, in his Farewell Address to the United States.
Our Founding Fathers had an idea. They wanted to have a set plan of government for their new nation. However, as times change, so too do plans change. Our Founding Fathers made the amendment system so we could change our constitution. The first 10 amendments to the Constitution were ratified on December 15, 1791. This document laid out citizens' basic rights and freedoms.
"The Bill of Rights is not an a la carte menu."
"The beauty of our country is that when it was founded that they took some time to lay out civil liberties in the first 10 Amendments - the Bill of Rights."
"There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights."
