Bike Bell App

The app is completely free of charge, no adverts, no gathering of data, no registration, nothing, nada...
The OVERLAY permission to draw on top of other apps is the only essential permission required. This is so that you can 'float' the app button on top of your favourite cycling/fitness app. Since the app uses floating widgets, you cannot use the app without this permission
The LOCATION permisson is required if you wish to use the GPS features to determine speed, distance, etc. This is also required if you want to create a GPX file for your bike ride to manually upload to Strava, etc.
The BACKGROUND LOCATION permission is required if you wish to keep recording your bike ride while your screen is turned off (to preserve battery life, etc.)
You can add your own sounds to the app to use as a bell. A good starting place is PixaBay.
To make any sound that you have downloaded as loud as possible, I'd highly recommend using a free tool called Audacity on a desktop computer. You can load in the sound, select the waveform (using Ctrl-A), open the 'Effect' menu and select 'Loudness Normalisation'. From the popup window, choose normalise to 'Perceived loudness' and set the LUFS to 0.0. Click OK.
Make sure to Export the new MP3 file using the File menu and share that file to your Android device.
Alternatively you can use a free online tool to maximise the volume of downloaded files. You can repeat the maximising a few times to get the loudest possible sound.
