A robot dog, Unitree GO1, has come to our lab to be transformed into an assitive dog for the blind.
Our research proposal entitled "HD-DNA Lab: Innovation Assistive Engineering Laboratory of Digital Human Cloning based on Human Behavior Stem Information" (PI: Prof. Jung-Soo Choi at Yeungnam Univ, Collaborators: Prof.s Dong-Wan Choi, Younggun Cho, Chan Lee) has been accepted for the next 3 years grant by NRF Basic Research Lab (BRL) program (기초연구실) for a total of 1.4 billion KRW (1.1 million USD). In this project, our lab will take the role of developing ML algorithms for walk assistive robots for disabled people.
Our paper, "Attractive and Repulsive Training to Address Inter-Task Forgetting Issues in Continual Learning," (1st author: Hong-Jun Choi, MS alumnus) has been accepted for publication in Neurocomputing, which is a top-tier SCIE journal (IF 5.719) in deep learning.
Our paper, "DARCAS: : Dynamic Association Regulator Considering Airtime over SDN-enabled Framework," has been accepted for publication in IEEE Internet of Things Journal, which is a top-tier SCIE journal (IF 9.936) in edge computing.
Our research proposal entitled "Deep Total Recall: Continual Learning for Human-Like Recall of Artificial Neural Networks" (PI: Prof. Dong-Wan Choi) has been accepted for the next 5 years grant by IITP (사람중심인공지능핵심원천기술개발사업) for a total of 5 billion KRW (4 million USD). In this project, Prof. Dong-Wan Choi and 5 other professors at Inha University (Seung-Hwan Bae, Yeongjin Kim, Young-Duk Seo, Bo-Yong Park, Younggun Cho) are going to develop novel technologies on how a neural network can 'recall' previously learned knowledge just like how human brain does.
Since Mar. 2022, our lab has been supported by the Inha Univ's BK21 program for AI (https://bk4ai.inha.ac.kr/).

Our research proposal entitled "Querying AI: Query-driven Interpretation of Deep Learning Models for Interactive XAI Service" (PI: Prof. Choi) has been accepted for the next 3 years grant by NRF for a total of 0.15 billion KRW (0.14 million USD).
Our paper, "Pool of Experts: Realtime Querying Specialized Knowledge in Massive Neural Networks," (1st author: Hakbin Kim, MS student) has been accepted for the SIGMOD 2021 conference, which is the best conference in the filed of Big Data. Our paper, "Split-and-Bridge: Adaptable Class Incremental Learning within a Single Neural Network," (1st author: Jong-Yeong Kim, MS student) has been accepted for the AAAI 2021 conference, which is a top-tier conference in the filed of AI. Our paper, "Recency-based Sequential Pattern Mining in Multiple Event Sequences," (1st author: Hakkyu Kim, BS student) has been accepted for publication in Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery (DAMI), which is a top-tier SCIE journal in Data Mining. This work has been done while he was working as an undergraduate intern.
Hakbin Kim (MS student) won the Best Paper Award, Runner Up (우수논문상) at the KCC 2020 conference in the field of AI for our paper, "Data-Free Conditional Knowledge Distillation for Extracting Specialized Neural Networks (데이터가 없는 상황에서 전문화된 신경망 추출을 위한 조건부 지식 증류 기법)."
The team of Inha University is finally selected for the AI Convergence Research Center Support Project Funded by IITP, Korea. Our lab is also generously granted by the center as Prof. Choi is one of 10 AI core faculty members (see https://aix.inha.ac.kr/).
