POPCORN FUNDRAISER
POPCORN FUNDRAISER
Pack 49 popcorn fundraiser takes place each autumn starting in August and ending in mid October. All Scouts are encouraged to participate – they gain valuable communications experience, a sense of responsibility and satisfaction as well as awards. About half our event and program budget comes from this single fundraiser. The pack spends around $300 per scout each year on achievements, awards, campouts, Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold, and other various activities and events, and membership, but asks only about $150 from each Scout in the form of annual dues we collect as dues. If we don’t fundraise, then we’d have to raise our pack dues even more. Through fundraising, scouts have the opportunity to reduce their out of pocket dues through a percentage of their proceeds.
Sales are coordinated by the Popcorn Kernel who is trained in the position and here to assist and guide you. They order the popcorn, arrange ‘Show and Sell’ (aka booth/storefront sales) dates, coordinate Scouts and Parent volunteers, arrange to pick up popcorn orders, coordinate payment collection, and distribute prizes earned by the scouts.

Popcorn sales are the pack’s main source of income for the year. The money raised helps cover the costs for many of our activities including, but not limited to: Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Celebration, achievements and awards, supplies, outings, and more. Strong participation in the popcorn sales will help the pack cover the costs of these programs while keeping dues low. This is the most significant financial contribution your scout can make to Help The Pack Go & Grow! The Pack Committee has set a goal for this year’s selling season based on last year’s budget and our projected growth.
Selling popcorn is also a good opportunity for your scout to practice their communication skills and manners. Scouts learn to meet new people and gain valuable social skills. Plus Scouting is fun for everyone and this is one way we can introduce our community to the benefits and fun of Scouting.
There are also great incentives to reward your scout for selling popcorn. Amazon Gift Cards will be awarded to your scout at the end of the selling season. Scouts who sell over 3K will earn an additional gift card with 8-10% of sales. Explaining these incentives to your scout will encourage him to set a goal. Committing to and achieving a goal is one of life’s greatest lessons!
Returning scouts will just need to login to their Trail's End App, don't forget to update your goals and profile. New Scouts should follow the info guide below and contact Anthony Montano at anthony.montano@yahoo.com with any questions.
