The BIF Key Club was started in September 2020 by Esha Bansiya (2024) and Shreya Sadhwani (2024). At the time of its inception, our Key Club only had 12 members - as of 2022, we’re a proud Key Club family of 30, the biggest club at our school!
Our Key Club embodies the values that Key Club International sponsors - leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness. When you join the BIF Key Club, you commit to close-knit friendships and joining our journey of making our community and world a safer, more compassionate place.
In September 2022 and July 2021 we received Club of the Month from our Division! Along with that, our officers Katherine Geng and Joleen Pan have been recognized as officer of the month in April 2022 and July 2022.
Our Key Club provides its members with the opportunity to do community service through service projects, fundraisers, and division events. Just two months after our club became official, we held our first annual “Spooktacular” Halloween fundraiser, with games, treats, scavenger hunts and more! During Earth Day the following year in April, we held a virtual scavenger hunt fundraiser to improve awareness about our carbon footprint and impact on the environment. Both of these events were held with kids from our elementary lower school campus, in line with our mission to build community amongst people of all ages! Between these fundraisers, we made cards for senior centers and homeless shelters for the holidays, to bring a little warmth to the people who need it most.
The summer before our second official year as a Key Club, we took part in several other exciting initiatives. In collaboration with the local student-led nonprofit UNIBAY, we took part in setting up a video game tournament as a fundraiser! With Key Clubs from several other Fremont high schools, we became Digital Smithsonian Volunteers, transcribing as many documents for the museum as we could! We finished off the summer with some classic lemonade-stand fundraising.
Going into the second school year of Key Club, we held a Book/CD/DVD drive at our school, the contents of which were donated to the American Cancer Society Store and the Fremont Library. Within a few months, we collaborated with our local boba tea store T4 to supply boba to our entire high school to raise funds for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP). We closed off the year on a note of service, with a second “Spooktacular” fundraiser and volunteering to package and organize food for the Ecumenical Hunger Program.
With mid-terms, finals, and APs approaching in the coming months, Key Club held several Pause For study sessions, where members paused their phones while studying and while the app in turn donated meals or money to local organizations. In light of Earth Day awareness again, our Key Club sought to educate the school on how to better interact with the environment, with a reminder presentation of trash, recycling, and compost.
As officers took the summer to bond even more through a “movie-night” bonding session, Key Club entered its third year closer than ever. Within a month, we held a fundraiser with Rita’s Ice - once again bringing deliciousness and service to our entire high school! In the meantime, keep your eye our for Spooktacular Pt. 3!
