Flambouyancy explores the fat, trans body and relates back to Ben's research. Flambouyancy seeks to present the fat, queer body in a host of different ways.
Explorations include:
What does it mean to present work without the fat, queer body physically in the space?
What is the fat, queer bodies' relationship with performance and representation?
How can we subvert the spectacle/audience perception?
What is the fat, queer bodies relationship to water?
How can the fat, queer body take up spaces of all sizes?
Presented as part of Peripeteia Theatre Company's anthology My Gay Best Friend at The Kings Arms, Salford
Ben was commissioned to write a letter to his fellow 'transfats', exploring his own relationship to his body as well as the perceptions that the world puts onto it.
The piece was read out alongside letters from other trans writers.

Dive in, submerge. If creeks become rivers become streams become oceans we can let our bodies flow. This installation and 121 performance invites you to evaporate into fatphoria and condensate into our bodies (of water)
This is an installation performance work exploring the movement and physicality of fat bodies in water.
Accompanied by an audio experience, trickling and dripping into the mind, becoming a sacred pool of fat euphoria

I met my angel whilst sat near the Manchester Canal. I had no money, couldn't pay rent and had the worst mental health that I'd experienced in a while. As I sat there, a voice shouted:
"Can I Join You?"
This 121 experience explores how we find care and comfort in someone else's experiences. Through mirroring the movements I make with my body, audiences are welcomed to uncover their need for care and support in seeking joy in their own existence.
This piece is performed with a one-way screen; Ben is not able to see the audience, but they can see him
