To apply for NHS, you must have:
A cumulative 3.6 GPA or higher
Completed a minimum of 20 community service hours by the time of application
Community service is encouraged to be completed through different experiences and is expected to be submitted with multiple sources of documentation to support participation
Students must demonstrate community impact / involvement experiences
Students should participate in a minimum of FOUR community impact / involvement experiences in school and/or greater community. Ex. sports, extracurricular or co-curricular activities, clubs, youth groups, local theater groups, scouts, youth advisory boards, etc.
At least TWO of these activities must be sponsored by Bloomfield Hills High School
Attended BHHS for at least one complete semester
A genuine personal interest in pursuing NHS membership
Been recognized by teachers and peers as a positive leader in the school community
Attended one of our required informational meetings and completed an NHS interview
Student applicants meet or exceed the standards of the pillars of the National Honor Society
To maintain your status as a member in good standing and avoid being placed on probation, you must:
Uphold the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character
Complete 10 hours (5 non-sponsored, 5 sponsored) of community service per semester
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher
Attend at least 80% of all required meetings
Actively participate in a Small Group Project and the Chapter Project
