To apply for NHS, you must have:

• A cumulative 3.6 GPA or higher

• Completed a minimum of 20 community service hours by the time of application 

  • • • Community service is encouraged to be completed through different experiences and is expected to be submitted with multiple sources of documentation to support participation

• Students must demonstrate community impact / involvement experiences

  • • • Students should participate in a minimum of FOUR community impact / involvement experiences in school and/or greater community. Ex. sports, extracurricular or co-curricular activities, clubs, youth groups, local theater groups, scouts, youth advisory boards, etc.

      • At least TWO of these activities must be sponsored by Bloomfield Hills High School

• Attended BHHS for at least one complete semester

• A genuine personal interest in pursuing NHS membership

• Been recognized by teachers and peers as a positive leader in the school community

• Attended one of our required informational meetings and completed an NHS interview

• Student applicants meet or exceed the standards of the pillars of the National Honor Society 

To maintain your status as a member in good standing and avoid being placed on probation, you must:

• Uphold the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character

• Complete 10 hours (5 non-sponsored, 5 sponsored) of community service per semester

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher

• Attend at least 80% of all required meetings

• Actively participate in a Small Group Project and the Chapter Project
