Male tend to commit suicide more as compared to female.
Mid-aged people tend to commit suicide more. Of the total suicides between 1985 and 2016, approximately 36% were of the age group 35-54 years.
The age group of 55-74 years tends to commit suicide more than the younger age groups.
The people above 75 years and below 14 years are the ones to commit suicide the least.
Even though the trends are decreasing for every age group, the age groups 25-34yrs, 15-24yrs and 75+ yrs has seen a significant increase from the year 1985 to 2015. Hence, these age groups require special attention in order to stabilize the numbers.
The age group of 5-14 years has almost been stable with numbers well below 2000 throughout the years.
The trend lines for male and female suicides has almost been the same over the years.
There is a decreasing trend for both male and female suicides.
