Bharat Bhise Shares Thoughts on Streaming Provider Peacock

Bharat Bhise agrees with analyst Craig Moffett that the current situation is going very well for NBCUniversal’s new video streaming provider, Peacock.

Americans are consuming more content than ever as a result of the Coronavirus-inspired lockdown. Based on data traffic, the peak hours are still found during the streaming times.

Peacock was launched in April for Comcast subscribers. It is set to roll out on July 15 for the rest of the viewing public, although Chairman Matt Strauss did say that there is a consideration of moving up the launch date.

Robust library and news content

Peacock has highlighted the value of its streaming service in an ever-growing community of streamers as Bharat Bhise compliments its ad-supported, free option. Also, with the Olympics and possibilities of fresh content creation postponed, Peacock is banking on the power of its news content and robust library, which will feature Law and Order and The Office.

In terms of success, it won’t be gauged just by the number of people using it. There are engagement types of metrics to be followed, such as the time people are using it and how much commitment they have in using the streaming service regularly

More and more people are becoming regular users. According to Nielsen data, streaming has gone up 85% on a year over year basis in March. Bharat Bhise adds that Disney+ has reported reaching a subscription list of 50 million globally. A poll supports these figures by Wall Street Journal-Harris, which shows that Americans had spent a total average of $37 on streaming services in March.

Yet, how much of these viewers will keep using the streaming service once the circumstances go back to normal and which streaming service will they choose? Bharat Bhise ponders the question along with the rest of the streaming experts.
