Justice system involvement often overlaps with child welfare concerns. Advocacy in this area helps:
Reduce disruption to families
Support parents in maintaining or regaining stability
Prevent further intergenerational impacts
Encourage outcomes that allow families to remain connected
BGW FIRM believes that individuals should be treated with dignity while being held accountable. Advocacy does not excuse harmful behavior; rather, it supports individuals in addressing challenges, meeting obligations, and working toward positive change.
All advocacy related to justice system involvement is conducted with respect for confidentiality, lawful processes, and the safety of all parties involved.
Connection to Family
“Over 38 years advocating for First Nations people, their families, and individuals facing legal challenges, including felonies and minor offences.”
I’m Billy George Williams, founder of BGW FIRM. I provide professional, compassionate support to First Nations communities and individuals navigating the justice system. My work focuses on keeping families connected, ensuring fair treatment, and guiding clients through complex legal and social systems.
A notable example of my work includes helping a First Nations family reunite with their children after the social services workers removed them. First, I assisted the parents in getting back their two sons. Years later, when one of the sons was an older teen and social services removed his daughter, I advocated successfully for him to regain custody. Today, he is happily raising his daughter along with a new addition to the family, a son. This story exemplifies my commitment to family preservation across generations.
