Read through these instructions and try out the ideas with the Working with Shapes file.Â
Each shape has its own layer.
See that in the Layers panel.
Each of these layers stacks on top of each other like pieces of paper.
You can also turn off layers by clicking on the little circle beside them.
If you want to get rid of a layer press delete on your keyboard.
Or you could have the layer selected and then press on the trashcan.
Use Control-Z to bring it back - this is the undo command
You can reduce the visibility of a layer by using opacity.
Just click on this arrow here to bring up this slider.
Now, as you lower this slider, you can see that the circle becomes less and less visible.
When you start making designs with dozens or even hundreds of layers, naming your layers can help keep things straight.
In addition to renaming your layers, you can change their size.
If you want to avoid accidentally moving a layer, you can lock it in place by using the lock icon on the background.
If you want to move multiple objects, select one of your layers, and then, while holding shift, select your other layers.
You could also do this from the Layers panel.
Select one layer, and then, while holding shift, select another.
