This discussion post was an answer to Dr. Karam Dana's research proposal activity. The students of BIS 312 WI 21: Approaches to Social Research were asked to think of a research topic they were interested in exploring and create a research plan surrounding it.
This discussion assignment was fairly timely because I had recently applied for a Master of Arts in Cultural Studies on February 1st, 2021. In my statement of purpose, I wrote about how I wanted to continue pursuing my found passion for further expanding education for Black students dealing with mental health and more specifically ADHD. While taking this class, it seemed that things were starting to take a path. I had failed out of this class in Summer 2020, and never thought in a few months I would be working on applying to a Master's. I enjoyed working on creating a plan because when I start the program, I now have a skeleton outline of how I would like to navigate my research. This assignment gave me time to reflect on something that was very relevant at the time and will continue to be.
This is a lab report from BIS 215: Understanding Statistics taught by Dr. Caleb Trujillo. The class was asked to create a lab report off of the real New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey statistics. Professor Trujillo states that " Your research group is approached by a consumer advocate watchdog group that is trying to determine the relationship between household income and several demographic and housing quality measurements.
