Melissa is a Medical Laboratory Technician at the Ottawa Hospital with over 22 years of experience, and is an OPSEU/SEFPO Executive Board Member.
She has held the Public Policy seat on the Healthcare Professionals Division Executive for the past decade and currently represents OPSEU/SEFPO on the Pension Liaison Committee.
Melissa also serves on the union’s Strategic Planning and Governance Committees, contributing to long-term stability, functionality, and the development of OPSEU/SEFPO’s strategic plan.
A strong advocate for accessibility and inclusion, she has championed the transition of union materials into both of Canada’s official languages.
Aisha is a Registered Nurse specializing in mental health within the provincial corrections system. She has extensive leadership experience, having been elected onto the College of Nurses’ self-regulatory board.
Aisha currently serves as a Trustee on OPTrust where she chairs the Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee, and is an OPSEU/SEFPO Executive Board Member.
Aisha has also run for office at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels between 2018 and 2024, consistently advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi, she brings over a decade of union leadership experience, including serving as president of the nurses’ bargaining unit at Homewood and local coordinator with ONA Local 225.
