Being part of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the Swedish clothing brand, H&M, announces that they will be stopping any collaboration with China's cotton industry. They accused China of forced labor of the Uyghurs, therefore they will not continue to work with the Chinese yarn factory.
The Chinese government claims that H&M has other political intentions behind the action, and that the US is bullying them with these accusations.
It was not until March 2021 that the Chinese netizens expressed their anger about the whole incident.
''How dare they falsely accused China and then tried to earn money from us? ''
''This is racism!''
''Get out of China!''
They even started a hashtag campaign #ISupportXinJiangCotton
(#我支持新疆棉花)

Most companies believed that the situation in Xinjiang is unclear, and they will be stricter when it comes to deciding which company to collaborate with. Majority of the companies seem to continue to buy cotton from China. However, once they found out that there are any actions that abuses human rights, collaboration will be dropped.
