Protein in Poultry Food
Baby birds need plenty of protein. This is why Laucke’s chick starter, and their duck and goose starter, each have 20% protein.
Red Hen Chick is used for wide range of species of baby poultry. This medication-free feed has 23% protein.
After about 6 weeks from hatching, a grower feed is needed until a little before the pullets are ready to lay. Laucke's Pullet Grower micro pellets with 16% protein is a popular one.
Laying Birds
Many types of layer rations have 15% protein. This includes Golden Yolk, Red Hen Layer, Red Hen Free range Layer and Lucky Layer. Hens will lay well on any of these products.
Some nutritionists recommend a higher level of protein.
XTRA EGG Se17enteen and Red Hen 17 both have 17% protein, and are popular foods for laying birds.
