Mice Behavior Scoring
How I plan to measure the mice in these four videos
Using a number scaling system. If the mice are close to the middle, they are less anxious; if they are near the walls, they are more anxious.
1-4, 1 being least anxious and 4 being most anxious.
1- directly in the middle: least anxious.
2- near the middle but not directly in the middle
3- more towards the wall but not directly on the wall.
4- directly on the wall: most anxious.
Video 1
When the mouse was first placed down, it was placed in the middle, but then it slowly moved toward the walls, 3. The mouse stayed along the wall, 4, but went a little towards the middle at one point, 3. The mouse was circling around toward the walls of the circle for the majority of the video, 4. The mouse moved away from the wall, more near the middle towards the end of the video, 2. Went back to the wall again, 4, until right before the video ended it went to the middle, 1.
Video 2
Mouse circled around the walls of the circle for the first 40 seconds of the video, 4, but then walked across the middle to get to the other side, 1. Circled around slightly away from the wall, 3. About 2 minutes in, the mouse went away from the wall and was slightly closer to the middle, 2. Walked across, a little off, from the middle before returning to the wall, 2. Bathed itself along the wall, 4.
Video 3
In the first 14 seconds, once the mouse was placed in the middle, it remained in the middle, 1m but then moved slightly away from the middle, 2, then to the wall, 4. Circled around on the wall, 4, went to the middle, 1, hesitated and returned to the wall, 4. Walked towards the middle, 2. Circled slightly away from the wall, 3. Walked across the middle again, a couple of times to get to the other side, 1.
Video 4
Circled along the wall for the first 50 seconds, 4, then walked slightly off from the middle to get across to the other side, 2. Circled around slightly away from the wall, 3. Bathed itself along the wall, 4. Started to walk slightly away from the wall, while still circling around, 3. Walked across the circle directly through the middle, 1. Stood still (idled) for 2 seconds slightly away from the wall, 3. Walked directly across the middle again, 1.
