VBS Prayers

This page provides guidance for praying for our VBS (Vacation Bible School).  There will be 6 flags in the grass around the Bethany Macungie Campus from Friday June 23 through Sunday June 25, and we encourage you to come to Macungie to pray in person at each flag.  There will be a group of women meeting at 9am on Saturday, and we will encourage the congregation to stay after church services on Sunday to pray.  You can also do this from home or during your travels, or during the week while at home - God hears our prayers, and we pray that VBS bears plentiful fruit!

Coffee Bar Entrance; Main Entrance; Youth Wing Entrance; Back Entrance; Playground; Cross (in the back)

Station 1 - Blue Flag - Pray the presence of God to be over all that we do.

Evangelist Charles G. Finney famously said: “If the presence of God is in the church, the church will draw the world in. If the presence of God is not in the church, the world will draw the church out.” Vacation Bible School is not a child-sitting service, it is an opportunity to exalt God and to introduce Him to hundreds of children.  May God be present in the church. 

Station 2 - Red Flag - Pray for the volunteers for VBS.

I pray blessings for all those who do preparation work for VBS. I pray for those who prepare the food, prepare the lessons, prepare the stage & room decorations, prepare the crafts, pray for the event, pick out the music, buy the necessary supplies, do the public relations work, find the volunteers, etc. May each person who participates feel important, loved, and appreciated. 

I pray that you would give the staff wonderful ideas and great resources.

I pray that all the staff will feel good - physically, mentally, and emotionally - each day.

I pray that all the staff will leave critical attitudes - and attitudes of frustration and irritation - outside the church building or better yet at the cross.

God, Guide each of the VBS team members to work together so that they make VBS fun for the children.  And I ask that you stir each of the VBS team members to yield to your daily drawing of each of them toward a closer relationship with you.

Lord, I ask that this VBS would be life-changing to each teen and adult who volunteers to help.

Thank you Lord for providing the workers for the harvest.

Station 3 - Purple Flag - Pray for the children to have fun!

I pray for the safety of all who will come to VBS.I pray for each child who will come to VBS. 

I pray that each child will feel loved by the teachers and staff - AND by you, God.

I pray that each child will be complimented, encouraged, and will feel valued and affirmed.

I lift up prayer that each child will feel as though he or she belongs and is an important part of the group.

I pray that the refreshments are yummy, the arts & crafts are fun, the songs are uplifting, the Bible stories are inspiring, and the games & activities are enjoyable.

Station 4 - Orange Flag - Pray for the children to be ready to learn

I lift up prayer that the children will have sharp minds that can quickly learn the songs and that they will remember the Bible stories.

I ask that each child would come to know Jesus in a closer way.  Lord, for those who are ready, I pray that they will boldly receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

I lift up prayer that the children will be able to put all their problems aside when they walk in the door of the church so that they can focus on the lessons and fully enjoy the experience.

I pray that each child will get the maximum benefit from coming to VBS.

Station 5 - Yellow Flag - Pray for the parents

I lift up prayer for the parents.  I pray that the parents of the children will be receptive to all the good things that the children learn at VBS.  

I pray that the parents will welcome hearing their child sing the songs and retell the stories.

I pray that you would inspire the parents to become more focused on you in their daily life. 

I pray that the parents would yield to you as you stir them to grow and mature in you. 

I pray that the parents would yield to you as you stir them to daily teach their children more about you. 

Station 6 - White Flag - Pray for VBS to bear fruit

I pray that all the efforts given to this VBS will yield great fruit - fruit of feeling loved by YOU and fruit of getting closer to YOU.  

May your loving hand guide each part of this experience.
