Artscaping the Good Prospect Community Garden: 

Public Art at the Cortland Gateway

The Bernal Heights Art and Mural (BHAM) Committee hosted listening sessions at the Bernal Heights Library and sent out surveys to ask neighbors what kind of art they would like to see at the Good Prospect Community Garden.  We took the feedback and put out a Request for Proposal for artists in December 2023.  We chose four talented and qualified finalists for the community to consider.  From April 21 to May 24, 2023, community members weighed in with their preferences.  Congratulations to Bernal artist Colette Crutcher who co-designed the iconic 16th Avenue Stairway and other incredible mosaic artwork in the city.  We will be hosting free tile making workshops on July 26, 2025 11am-1pm at the Santa Marina block party.
