Bookshare is an accessible online library for people with physical or learning disabilities that require text to speech for academic and leisure reading.
Bookshare makes reading easier. People with dyslexia, blindness, cerebral palsy, and other reading barriers can customize their experience to suit their learning style and find virtually any book they need for school, work, or the joy of reading.
Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF)
A statewide, non-profit organization that helps individuals with disabilities and older Pennsylvanians acquire the assistive technology devices and services they want. PATF provides financing opportunities, education, and advocacy for people with disabilities and older Pennsylvanians, helping them to acquire the assistive technology devices and services that improve the quality of their lives.
Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT)
TechOWL (formerly PIAT) helps people with disabilities explore the tools and technology they need to be independent. TechOWL is Pennsylvania’s Assistive Technology Act program.
Programs include:
A technology Lending Library “try before you buy”
Demonstrations to help people find the best technology to fit their needs
ReUse accepting donations and finding homes for lightly used equipment
Free Special Phones for people who can’t use a typical phone
iCanConnect for people with both vision and hearing loss
