Only original solo compositions by master composers will be allowed. All selections must be performed from memory. (No transcriptions or concerti may be performed.) One original copy of the music with measures numbered must be provided for the judges. The pianist or teacher's name may NOT appear on the music provided. Long repeats should be omitted. PHOTOCOPIES ARE NOT PERMITTED.
Time limitations must be considered in the choice of repertoire. Students should be prepared to play all pieces in their entirety. The judges have the option of stopping the pianist prior to the end of the work if the performance time exceeds the maximum. All timing will be strictly enforced.
COMPETITION-LEVEL REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS
Elementary Division – Track 1
Grades K-5
2 or 3 compositions
PERFORMANCE TIME IS LIMITED TO 9 MINUTES. Selections must not exceed repertoire comparable to AiM level 8, but need not be chosen from the AiM list. No sonata or sonatina movement is required, but selections should represent contrasting styles and tempi.
Elementary Division – Track 2
Grades K-5
2 or 3 compositions
PERFORMANCE TIME IS LIMITED TO 11 MINUTES. Repertoire level is suggested to be comparable to AiM levels 8 and above. No sonata or sonatina movement is required, but selections should represent contrasting styles and tempi.
Junior Division – Track 1
Grades 6 and 7

PERFORMANCE TIME IS LIMITED TO 12 MINUTES. Repertoire must consist of one movement (first or last) of a classical period sonata or sonatina, plus compositions representing contrasting styles and tempi. Repertoire level is suggested to be comparable to AiM levels 8 and above.
Junior Division – Track 2

PERFORMANCE TIME WILL BE LIMITED TO 15 MINUTES. Repertoire must consist of one movement (first or last) of a classical period sonata, plus compositions representing contrasting styles and tempi. Repertoire level is suggested to be comparable to AiM levels 10 and above.
NOTE: Any first or last sonata or sonatina movement from the classical period may be used, and need NOT be limited to those in sonata-allegro form. Sonata movements in other forms, such as rondo or theme and variation, are permitted.
THE PRESENTATION OF HONORS:
All participants and audience members are invited to the awards ceremony, which takes place following the judges’ conference at each Division’s completion. There will be no one except judges present for their conference regarding the awards to be presented.
