The birth of the Prophet Muhammad SAW
The Prophet Muhammad SAW was the son of Abdullah and Aminah. The Prophet Muhammad SAW was estimated to have been born on the 12th of Rabi'ul Awal in the year of the elephant. It is called the year of the elephant because the Prophet Muhammad was born 55 days after the attack of Abraha's elephant troops on Mecca.
Before he was born, the Prophet Muhammad's father had already died, leaving his mother alone. At dawn, Aminah's room suddenly became bright. A ray of light came out of her womb. Aminah looked towards the light. She could see the palaces of Bushra in Syria. She had experienced this before when she was still young in her pregnancy.
A moment later, the Prophet Muhammad was born into the world. Umm Aiman, Aminah's maid, immediately met Abdul Muthalib and informed him of the birth. How happy Abdul Muthalib was at that time. He immediately met his grandson and carried him with great joy. Then Abdul Muthalib took his grandson to the Kaaba.
"I am grateful to You, O Lord of the Kaaba!" said Abdul Muttalib in front of the Kaaba. "O Rabb of the Kaaba, protect my grandson and bless him."
Abdul Muttalib then named his grandson Muhammad, so that everyone on earth and in heaven would praise him. The name sounded foreign to the ears of Makkans. However, scribes are familiar with this name. they knew the name from the holy books. They knew Muhammad like they knew their own children.
The Bani Abdul Muttalib also rejoiced at the birth of Muhammad. After giving thanks and praying in front of the Kaaba, Abdul Muttalib took Muhammad back to his mother. Aminah's mother immediately breastfed her son.
Seven days later, according to Arab tradition, Muhammad was circumcised. At that time, Tsuwaibah was breastfeeding her child. Tsuwaibah was a former slave of Abu Lahab.
Abdul Muttalib asked Tsuwaibah to breastfeed Muhammad. Tsuwaibah also became the second woman after her mother, Aminah, to breastfeed the future messenger of Allah SWT. In the future, the newborn baby will be a blessing for the entire nature.
Muhammad SAW received revelation
The first revelation that Allah SWT gave to the Prophet Muhammad SAW came through a dream when he was 40 years old, Mother. In this dream, the Prophet Muhammad was alone in the Hira Cave in Jabal Nur, and met the Angel Gabriel.
Through the Angel Gabriel, the revelation sent down by Allah SWT was Surah Al-Alaq verses 1-5. As quoted from the book entitled Tafsir Education: The Concept of Al-Quran-Based Education, by Ahmad Izzan and Sehudin, it is explained that tafsir scholars are of the opinion that these 5 verses confirm that the Prophet Muhammad SAW was ordered by Allah SWT to read.
Apart from that, this command is also accompanied by teaching the power and attributes of Allah to humans in preaching. Here is the content of the letter Al-Alaq verses 1-5 and its translation:
اِقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَۚ
Meaning: "Read in the name of your Lord who created."
خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍۚ
Meaning: "He created man from a clot of blood."
اِقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْاَكْرَمُۙ
Meaning: "Read, and your Lord is the Most Glorious,"
الَّذِيْ عَلَّم َ بِالْقَلَمِۙ
Meaning: "Who teaches (humans) with the pen."
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ
Meaning: "And He taught man what he did not know."
Muhammad SAW and The Blind Beggar
The Prophet Muhammad SAW was a very loving person to others, even to those who always criticized and insulted him. There was a blind Jewish beggar in the corner of the Medina market. Every time he uttered insulting words to the Prophet Muhammad SAW so that many people then heard his harsh words.
However, out of the many people in the market, there was a noble person who loved him, who fed him every day. Because he was blind, he could not see the person who fed him gently every day so that he did not go hungry.
One day he felt lost because the person who sincerely fed him did not come. Until Abu Bakar As-Shiddiq came and fed him while hearing the beggar continue to criticize the Prophet. The beggar was angry because the hand that fed him was not the same as before.
"Hey, who are you? You are not the person who usually feeds me!" Abu Bakar replied, he was a friend of the person who always fed the beggar.
"Where is he, why doesn't he come to feed me?" asked the beggar angrily.
"The person who feeds you every day is the Prophet Muhammad SAW. He passed away yesterday," replied Abu Bakar.
"Is it true that he has passed away? He was never angry at all, came to me and brought me food every day. He was so noble-hearted, full of compassion," the beggar immediately cried with regret.
The person who had been kind to him was the one he had cursed and insulted. The blind Jewish beggar finally pronounced the shahada in front of Abu Bakar As-Shiddiq.
Lessons learned from the example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to be taught to children. Various stories from the Prophet Muhammad SAW show that even though he was a messenger of Allah SWT who had many privileges, he still had noble morals.
Since childhood, the Prophet Muhammad was an orphan, but he remained steadfast. His steadfastness and patience were always tested when he first started spreading Islam to the Quiraish sect. Many people opposed and criticized them and even threw dirt at the Prophet Muhammad, but he never responded and prayed to Allah that they would be forgiven.
Even to a blind beggar who always criticized him, the Prophet Muhammad acted the opposite by treating the old man as well as possible by feeding him every day. The Prophet never revealed his identity, until he died, the blind beggar found out that the person who had been doing good to him was the person he had always insulted, namely the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
The Prophet Muhammad's struggle in preaching was not easy. The Prophet Muhammad spent a total of the remaining 23 years of his life preaching to spread the religion of Islam. When he was in Mecca he had to face strong resistance from the Quraysh which threatened his life. When he moved to Medina, he made a cooperation agreement between the Muhajirin and Ansar so that the two could live in harmony together.
Not only that, even though he was the noblest person specially chosen by Allah SWT and given many advantages, the Prophet Muhammad SAW was never arrogant. He never showed miracles or the advantages he had if not asked by others. As in the story of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who succeeded in splitting the moon after being asked by a king from the land of Syria who wanted to know the sign of his prophethood.
