Moses Parting the Sea!
After Prophet Moses (as) and Prophet Harun (as) preached to Fir'aun and Fir'aun refused the invitation of the two prophets, Pharaoh became angry and ordered his soldiers to kill Prophet Moses (as) and his followers. So Prophet Moses (a.s.) and his followers fled from Egypt and continued to be chased by Pharaoh and his army. So the escape arrived at the edge of the Red Sea, Prophet Moses (AS) was confused by the situation, namely behind them Pharaoh was chasing them and in front of them the wide sea was blocking their escape. Then Allah Almighty gave revelation to Prophet Moses (as) to hit his staff into the sea, and immediately the sea parted and Prophet Moses (as) told his followers to immediately cross the sea before Pharaoh and his army could catch up with them. When Prophet Moses (a.s.) had reached the other side of the sea and Pharaoh and his army were still in the middle of the sea, Allah Almighty ordered Prophet Moses (a.s.) to hit his staff back into the sea so that the sea merged again and Pharaoh and his army drowned in the Red Sea. After several days, the people found Pharaoh's body still intact and not rotting at all. This is a promise from Allah SWT as a warning and lesson for people after him not to oppose Allah SWT's message
The Sinking of Pharaoh in the Red Sea
Prophet Moses and his followers were chased by Pharaoh and his soldiers to the edge of the Red Sea. That's when Prophet Moses and his followers were confused because they had reached a dead end while they were surrounded by Pharaoh and his army. So the word of Allah came down to help him, as mentioned in the Qur'an:
وَإِذا َا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ
Meaning: "And (remember), when We parted the sea for you, then We saved you and We drowned (Pharaoh) and his followers while you yourselves watched." (QS. Al-Baqoroh: 50)
It was in that event that Allah revealed to Prophet Moses As. to hit his staff on the surface of the sea, then Prophet Musa immediately hit his staff and suddenly the sea water split into two parts which at the same time in the middle (the split) became a path that he and his followers could pass through. Not long after, Fir'aun and his army followed along the road while feeling afraid.
Then after Prophet Moses and his followers arrived on land, Allah ordered Prophet Moses to quickly hit his staff into the sea and immediately Prophet Moses hit his staff, then suddenly the sea water that was parted returned to sea water as before, then the king drowned. Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea.
The Meeting of Musa AS and Khidir AS
Imam al-Bukhari said: Imam al-Humaidi has narrated from Imam Sufyan, Imam Sufyan has narrated from Imam Amr bin Dinar, he said: Imam Sa'id bin Jabir told me that he asked Ibn Abbas: "Verily Nauf al-Bukali assume that the Moses who accompanied Khidir was not Moses from among the Children of Israel?" Then Ibn Abbas answered: "The enemies of Allah SWT have lied." Then Ibn Abbas continued his answer that Ubay bin Ka'ab had told him that he heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Indeed, the Prophet Musa (a.s.) was giving a speech in the midst of the Children of Israel, then someone asked: "Which of the people is the most intelligent?" , So Prophet Musa (a.s.) answered: "I am". So Allah SWT was annoyed with Prophet Musa AS because he did not rely his knowledge on Allah SWT, then Allah SWT gave a revelation to Prophet Musa AS: "Indeed, I have a servant who is smarter than you who is at the meeting of the two seas." That is why Prophet Musa (AS) was ordered to meet Prophet Khidir (AS) and learn from him by Allah SWT.
The wisdom from these three stories is that full reliance and trust in Allah SWT will lead us to a way out of any difficulty, as experienced by Prophet Moses and his people when they were pursued by Pharaoh to the edge of the Red Sea, where Allah helped them with a miracle. Additionally, Pharaoh's intact body after drowning serves as a warning to humanity about the consequences for those who are arrogant and defy Allah's commands. Meanwhile, the story of Prophet Moses being instructed by Allah to learn from Prophet Khidr teaches us humility in seeking knowledge and the importance of recognizing that all knowledge originates from Allah SWT, so we must be grateful and always rely upon Him.
