Founded in Newark, New Jersey, Jesse’s Auto Service proudly served the community from the 1980s through the mid-2010s. Built by Jessie Leggit, a dedicated family man with strong values, integrity, and a passion for his craft, the shop became a respected name among customers, fellow mechanics, and competitors throughout Newark.

Mr. Leggit was known not only for his mechanical expertise, but also for his honesty, professionalism, and the genuine relationships he built with everyone who walked through his doors. His commitment to quality work and treating people with respect created a lasting reputation that continues to be remembered by the customers he once served.

As Mr. Leggit approached retirement, he made the difficult decision to step away and list the property and business he had dedicated so many years to building. During that transition, the Bergen Auto team had the opportunity to meet Mr. Leggit and share our vision of continuing the tradition he created. With trust and confidence in our commitment, he graciously chose us to carry forward the legacy of the place he loved.

Today, Bergen Auto Motor Services continues to build upon the foundation Mr. Leggit established — a foundation built on respect, integrity, craftsmanship, and dedication to the community. We are honored to preserve the values that made Jesse’s Auto Service special while creating our own legacy and continuing to serve the Newark community with the same passion and commitment.
