This project explores how social media affects both society as a whole and me personally. By reviewing research, statistics, and reflecting on my own social media use, I’ll gain a better understanding of its influence and the role it plays in my daily life.
After taking the “AM I ADDICTED TO SOCIAL MEDIA?” QUIZ, I figured that I may spend to much time on socil media, and I need to get it under control before it gets too bad. The results stated,
You might not be 100% addicted (yet!), but you definitely need to evaluate how much time you're spending scrolling on your social media accounts. It may not be making you happy. One study by Facebook of teen Instagram users in the US and UK found more than 40% of those who reported feeling “unattractive” said the feelings started when using Instagram. It's a good time to start thinking about decluttering your digital life through a social media and digital detox!
Subsequent to the test I realized that my time on social media might be impacting my self-esteem more than I thought, especially if I’ve ever found myself comparing my life or appearance to others online. This reflection showed me that I might be relying on scrolling as a habit, even when it doesn't make me feel good—and it’s probably time to set some boundaries and prioritize my mental well-being by stepping back and decluttering my digital space.
Interesting Social Media Fact
YouTube and Facebook are the most popular online platforms in the U.S., with about half of adults also using Instagram. Fewer people use apps like TikTok, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and Snapchat.
Social media, in my opinion, has a significant influence on society, both positively and negatively. Positively, it facilitates rapid information sharing, keeps individuals in touch, and even helps spread awareness of worthy causes. But it also puts pressure on people to live or look a specific way, which can lower self-esteem, particularly among younger users. Social media may be addictive, and spending too much time on it might cause anxiety or feelings of loneliness. Ultimately, even while social media has advantages, I think it's critical for users to use it carefully and take pauses when necessary in order to safeguard their mental health.
Throughout this project, not only did I I learn more about social media, I learned more about myself. Social media has a very big influence on the world and the individuals in it. This includes me. Sometimes the internet may show a false image that many people beleive and try to compare theirselves too. This can be a positive and a negative, but can quicly turn negative if you don't realize it. i appreciate the survey because it forced me to acknowledge it and is driving me to go on a social media fast.
