Future Panels & Meetings

The capstone conference for the Work and Wellbeing in History project, "Job Quality from the Past to the Future", will be held at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in August 2024, with a keynote lecture by Professor Chris Warhurst (Warwick). Details will follow in due course.

Past Events

As part of the Work and Wellbeing in History project, I organized a FRESH meeting in June 2023 that brought together more than twenty researchers from eight countries at OsloMet to discuss working conditions and quality of life in the past.

I was the local organizer of the First Norwegian Winter Games in Economic History, held at OsloMet in January 2023, and served on the program committee for the Second Winter Games at the University of Oslo in January 2024. I also organized three panels at the 2023 European Social Science History Conference, on technology, work, and wellbeing, and the course and effects of pandemics.

At the XIX World Economic History Congress I organized a panel on technological unemployment and labor markets, and co-organized (with Dr Kathryn Gary) a panel on piece rates in global economic history.

I was the lead organizer for the Labour in History & Economics Conference at All Souls College, Oxford in April 2019. We welcomed more than fifty researchers from ten countries for an vibrant two-day meeting to discuss markets, labor migration, and the work environment. I was the lead organizer for the first Oxford History & Social Science Workshop in January 2019 and part of the organizing committee for the 2018–19 Oxford Economic and Social History Graduate Seminar.
