BenchWork Privacy Policy

BenchWork is an app for joiners and other trades to price jobs, send quotes and invoices, and keep track of materials. It is made by Michael Collett, an independent developer in the United Kingdom.

The short version

BenchWork doesn't collect your information. Everything you put into the app stays on your device and in your own iCloud account. I can't see it, and nothing is sent to me.

What you put into BenchWork

You may enter your business details (name, address, phone, email, VAT or GST number, bank details for invoices, and a logo), your customers' details (names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses), and your jobs, prices, materials, quotes and invoices.

Where it is kept

This information is stored on your iPhone or iPad. If iCloud is turned on for BenchWork, it is also stored in your private iCloud account so it can sync between your devices. iCloud is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. I have no access to your iCloud data.

What BenchWork does not do

• It has no account or sign-in of its own.

• It does not send your information to me or to anyone else.

• It contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

• It does not sell or share your information.

Sending quotes and invoices

When you send a quote or invoice, BenchWork opens Apple's Mail or Messages, or the share sheet, with the message ready. It is sent from your own email or phone, to the people you choose. BenchWork doesn't send anything by itself.

Your logo

If you add a logo, you choose one picture from your photos. BenchWork only sees that one picture, not the rest of your photo library.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. I don't receive your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase has been made, so the right features can be unlocked. BenchWork keeps a count of the free jobs you have used in your own iCloud account, so the count is the same on all your devices.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send me anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These don't include the information you enter in BenchWork. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Your customers' information

You are responsible for the customer information you choose to store in BenchWork, and for using it in line with the data protection rules that apply to your business.

Deleting your information

You can delete jobs, customers and materials in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes the data on that device. To remove the iCloud copy as well, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage), choose BenchWork and delete its data.

Children

BenchWork is a business tool and is not aimed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
