The Benchmarking@GECCO Workshop Series
A platform to come together and to discuss recent progress and challenges in the area of benchmarking optimization heuristics.
This workshop will continue our workshop series that we started in 2020. The core theme is on benchmarking evolutionary computation methods and related sampling-based optimization heuristics, but each year, we will change the focus.
The focus in 2023 is mixed-integer optimization.
While the term "mixed-integer optimization" is misleading, the topic is a rather demanding one for benchmarking and the EC community in general. The term refers to problems that do not solely feature continuous or discrete variables but a mixed set of discrete, categorical, continuous, etc. variables. Thus, a broad variety of problems is covered which has not been addressed adequately, neither in benchmarking, nor in EC research at all.
Within the workshop, we have invited talks of about 15 minutes to different subtopics of mixed-integer optimization and will allow ample time for the discussion of the addressed subtopics. After the talks, we continue with a panel discussion of highly renowned researchers in the field.
