BEING AN IMMIGRANT IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY

To understand an immigrant or refugee citizen, first of all we must be able to understand the reasons why they left their countries. Like all the people, they want same type of things as we want for ourselves. Most importantly, their children are protected from bad conditions, evil and negative situations that may happen to them. We should not forget that they are trying to normalize by running away.

We need to know that it is important to mediate for refugees to express their grievances. Listening is an action that empowers the other person.

One of the best ways to listen and understand refugees is education. We can observe many aspects of a refugee life. We can also have an opportunity to see the improvement of a child in the community. Especially children are the key competence to interact with their culture and background. If we can manage to understand their needs and fears, We can compensate them all.

Interaction, peer help and socializing refugee students in schools are basic elements to provide coherence and harmony among all students. Keeping balance among these triangle we can provide better learning settings. We can also make use of benefits of Erasmus projects to exchange ideas and experiences as a solution to harmonius education settings.

Refugees and immigrants are reality of today’s world. By empowering our connections and cooperation with them, we can can surpass many obstacles on education path.

Students and teachers shared their experiences, what they liked and didn't like, what they feel was a success, and what needs to be improved.
