Earthcasting to the public:

Ornitographies - time lapse photography project by Xavi Bou

Upcoming public art by famous earthastr - Thomas Sayor in North Carolina, USA

For Bou, the “organic form images” that result “stimulate the imagination,” in order to make “visible the invisible.” Thus, he says,

these works respond to the human yearning to fly through images at the “limits of human perception”—images “which are no longer a single portrait of reality but become a witness

of the instants that, for a moment, were past, present and future all at once” (Ramsay 2020)

Critical Zone Scientist

  • understanding water availability in the CZ

  • expanding CZ science into new environments

  • communicating the societal relevance of CZ science including earthcasting to the public

  • seamlessly integrating biological sciences within the CZ framework;

  • scaling CZ processes over large spatial and temporal gradients.
