Anticipated Agenda Below
Session #1: 1:00 - 1:30 Bellow Scholars Program Overview
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the Bellow Scholars Program. Attendees will learn about the program's objectives, benefits, and support available to scholars. We will also outline the expectations for selected scholars, including key milestones and deadlines. This session is designed to ensure that all prospective scholars have a clear understanding of what is required to successfully complete the program.
Presenters: Madalyn Wasilczuk & Laila Hlass
Session #2: 1:30 - 2:30 Combining Empirical Research, Clinical Advocacy, & Scholarship
This session will feature former Bellow Scholars discussing their Bellow projects sharing their evidence-based insights into how legal systems operate, the effectiveness of laws, and the societal impact of legal policies. Prospective applicants can engage with former Bellow Scholars on their qualitative and quantitative methodologies, collaborations with social scientists, writing articles and white papers based on empirical research, tips for publishing, and how to manage the balance (and ideally create efficiencies) between clinic advocacy and empirical research.
Presenters: Lisa Martin, Aaron Littman, Rachel Moran, & Neha Lall
Session #3: 2:30 - 2:50 Putting Together Your Proposal for a Bellow Scholar Application
The goal of this session is to review the application and acceptance timeline and selection criteria, as well as to provide direct assistance and feedback on draft project proposals for prospective Bellow Scholars.
