My philosphy as an educator and mentor is to meet students where they are in their educational journey and create educational experiences and materials that will stoke students' curiosity, align with their learning and/or career goals, and lead to a sense of pride in their accomplishments.
Recent undergraduate education highlights

I served as assistant faculty to a group of eight students during a week in the White Mountains. We covered topics in environmental science, hydrogeology, wildnerness safety and more.
Authentic Undergraduate Geoscience Research 2022
I designed and co-lead an intensive summer research program for students with identities historically excluded from environmental and geosciences.
Perilous Planet: Case Studies course development and instruction 2022
In this course, I used case studies and activities to help students think critically about the geographical, political, and societal factors that determine the outcomes of environmental hazards.
In both 2022 and 2023 I led week long field work expeditions in southeastern Puerto Rico. I trained a total of seven undergraduates and two graduate students in environmental observation, sediment and water sampling, data collection and record keeping.
I have extensive experience training people at all career stages to use laboratory spaces safely and effectively, both at UVM and MIT. At present, I am supervising and mentoring a UVM undergraduate in mineral seperation, Be extraction, and XRF analysis as part of a year long undergraduate research project on saprolite characteristics in Puerto Rico.
